A Personal Choice
“At my last supper, I want to see my brothers…” So goes the song by Jacques Brel. Each year, DocsBarcelona invites a key figure from the documentary world to present his/her favourite works. This year, Peter Greenaway will be doing the honours, as he joins the festival’s prestigious list of contributing filmmakers thus far: Eckart Stein, Thierri Garrel, Joan Salvat and Roc Villas.
Programme: Peter Greenaway, who is considered to be one of the most original contemporary directors, with films including "The Draughtsman’s Contract" and "Rembrandt’s J’Accuse", has received countless nominations for his films at the festivals of Cannes, Venice and Berlin.

A catalogue of the people who drowned in the Seine River in Paris during the initial years of the French Revolution. Based on the physical traits and marks on the bodies that were found in the river, the filmmaker attempts to piece together the lives of the anonymous victims.

16th-century, Venice. Pietro Aretino, a poet and intellectual known for his pornographic work, suggested that his friend, painter Paolo Veronese paint Christ’s wedding with Mary Magdalene. When the cardinals imprisoned and tortured Aretino for immorality, Veronese was forced to reconvert the painting.
