ChThe day ward at the Warsaw oncology clinic is always full of chatter. Conversation seems to be part of the treatment, as patients natter with bedside neighbours about parts of their prescriptions. Women and men, young and old, exchange home remedies, share their worries and offer one another advice. They talk about their regrets, their fears, and the lies they tell their loved ones in order to spare them the pain. Ordinary moments are magnified in close-up shots: a smile, a tear, a hopeful glance. For some, these will be their last conversations. For others, it will become the warmest memory of that period of illness that they spent in hospitals.
