7 SHOTS 7: Signe Byrge Sørensen

7 SHOTS 7 is DocsBarcelona’s annual invitation to a prominent figure within the documentary world, who by selecting 7 shots or sequences from their work, opens up a debate around audiovisual language.

This year, the producer of The Act of Killing tells us in 7 sequences, the most relevant moments of her filmography.

Signe Byrge Sørensen began her career as a producer in 1998 at SPOR Media. In 2004 she went to work for Final Cut Productions and in 2009 she decided to start her own and current production company, Final Cut for Real, which has made some of the most successful documentaries of the last few years. The impact of The Act of Killing in the international scene, which obtained overwhelming success in the world’s most important film festivals, got her a nomination for the Oscars in 2013.  Amongst her productions are Returned (2011), The Human Scale (2012), Last Dreams ( 2013), Cathedrals of Culture – Halden Prison (2014), Life is Sacred (2014) and The Look of Silence (2014). In 2014 she received the Roos Prize, the main award for documentary in Denmark.
