The industry area of DocsBarcelona programs various activities that shape a financing and dissemination market for the documentary industry and a meeting point for professionals from all over the world.

DocsBarcelona is the only documentary festival in the Spanish state that combines exhibition in the theatres and competition, with a financing market and professional activities. This combination makes it a key event, offering professionals the possibility of attending a first-class festival, and the directors and teams of the films scheduled to participate in professional activities, generating numerous networking opportunities.

During our trajectory, more than 5,000 professionals from around the world have participated in the area of industry of DocsBarcelona.

DocsBarcelona is a very successful market, since 60% of the projects presented in the industry activities are produced and 20% more are in production.

In 2017, 116 projects were received from 33 countries and 53 projects from 24 countries were selected to participate in the different financing activities.

The main activity is the Speed Meetings: 40 projects selected from around the world have individual meetings of 15 minutes behind closed doors with the financier’s attending.

The 2017 edition was attended by 37 financers from 17 countries and 463 meetings were held. The meetings are previously scheduled according to the preferences of the funders and the projects’ needs.

 

      

 

Interactive Pitch and Latin Pitch: during the festival presentations of interactive and Latinamerican projects under development take place in spezialized pitches in front of a selection of financers and DocsBarcelona accredited professionals.

Rough Cut Screenings: documentaries at a rough cut stage are presented privately to a selected group of experts who carry out an assessment and act as consultants. The objective is to generate creative and constructive discussions that will favor the access of the films to the international market once they reach the final state of developement.

DocsBarcelona organizes Conferences and Master Classes addressed to accredited professionals in order to discuss and train about current financing sources and programming needs, or new distribution and storytelling trends. Key actors of the current documentary scene talk about their experiences and face the audience questions.

Workshops: International tutors with experience in documentary production and financing lead workshops addressed to accredited professionals and future directors.

  • Development Workshop: Addressed to all directors and producers with a project in a development stage.
  • Project Presentation Workshop: Addressed to all filmmakers and producers with a project selected for the Speed Meetings or the Interactive and Latin Pitches to fine tune their projects and pitching skills to have the best opportunity for a successful meeting with broadcasters and funders, and improve the chances of financing their documentary.

 

   


InterDocsBarcelona
 is the interactive and transmedia documentary section of DocsBarcelona. A professional meeting point to understand, disseminate, create, finance and exhibit the interactive documentary. This section brings together activities such as conferences and talks focused on transmedia creation and storytelling and significant case studies, as well as interactive screenings where national and internacional projects, experiences and initiatives meet.

Networking: DocsBarcelona offers meeting spaces to make new contacts and establish relationships with other professionals in the industry. Industry Lounge, Coffee breaks, lunches, receptions and After Pitch meetings.

The Professional Accreditation and the Student Accreditation are the opportunity to access all the networking spaces and the industry activities of DocsBarcelona. The inscriptions will be open in early February 2018.

 

    

 

DocsBarcelona gathers each year more than 450 professionals from 40 countries, among them commissioning editors, producers, filmmakers, film funds, distributors, sales agents, festivals, markets and cultural agents.
