DocsBarcelona Industry Activities are a financing and distribution market for the documentary industry and a meeting point for professionals from all over the world.

DocsBarcelona is the only Spanish documentary event  that combines  a competitive festival with a financing market and  professional activities. This combination makes DocsBarcelona a unique event, as it gives accredited professionals the opportunity to attend a first-class festival, and the festival directors and guests the chance to participate in the market and in the professional activities creating numerous networking opportunities.

DocsBarcelona is a profitable date for producers: 60% of the projects submitted to the Industry Activities are produced and the 20% are now on production.

In 2016 DocsBarcelona received 170 projects from 46 countries for the market and 53 projects from 31 countries were selected to attend the different Industry Activities.

img_8363Speed Meetings are DocsBarcelona main Industry Activity: 40 selected projects are selected to have one to one meetings of 15 minutes with financers.

In 2016 35 financers from 28 countries attended and 587 meetings took place. The meetings are previously arranged depending on the financers preferences and project needs.



Interactive Pitch and Latin Pitch: during the festival presentations of interactive and Latinamerican projects under development take place in spezialized pitches in front of a selection of financers and DocsBarcelona accredited professionals.

Rough Cut Screenings: 3 documentaries at a rough cut stage will be presented privately to a selected group of experts who will carry out an assessment and act as consultants. The objective is to generate creative and constructive discussions that will favor the access of the films to the international market.

IMG_8246DocsBarcelona organizes Conferences, Panels and Master Classes addressed to accredited professionals in order to discuss and train about current financing sources and programming needs, or new distribution and storytelling trends.

The key actors of the current documentary scene talk about their experiences and face the audience questions.

Workshops: International tutors with experience in documentary production and financing lead workshops addressed to accredited professionals.

Development Workshop: For all directors and producers with a project in a development stage.

Project Presentation Workshop: For all filmmakers and producers with a project selected for the Speed Meetings or the Interactive and Latin Pitches to fine tune their projects and pitching skills to have the best opportunity for a successful meeting with broadcasters and funders, and improve the chances of financing their documentary.

Networking: DocsBarcelona features many moments  in which the professionals attending can make new contacts and establish relationships with each other. Coffee breaks, lunches, receptions and After Pitch meetings are some of them.

The Professional Accreditation is the entrance to the networking and industry activities of DocsBarcelona. The registration of professionals will open during February 2017.

DocsBarcelona gathers each year more than 600 professionals from 40 countries, among them commissioning editors, producers, filmmakers, film funds, distributors, sales agents, festivals, markets and cultural agents.
