In the forested depths of eastern Congo lies Virunga National Park, one of the world’s most bio-diverse places. A small team of park rangers, made up of a caretaker of orphan gorillas, a former child soldier, and a Belgian conservationist, decide to risk their lives to confront the armed militia and the poachers who want to exploit the park’s natural resources. In the midst of their struggle, the rebel groups in the area declare war and this further complicates their work. The conflicts in the area place great danger on a unique ecosystem which has been declared world heritage by the UNESCO. The courage of a small group willing to risk everything to build a better future for Congo, shows us how, as people, we have the capacity to protect the planet’s natural wealth.
