SYNOPSIS

Papa Alaev és el patriarca d’una família de músics virtuosos de Tadjikistan. Carismàtic i divertit, ha liderat amb mà de ferro el grup musical The Alaev Family. Amb la caiguda de la Unió Soviètica, Papa Alaev va prendre la decisió unilateral de marxar del seu país natal i tota la família se’n va anar a viure a Israel.

Fills i néts han conviscut sota un mateix sostre a Tel Aviv i el patriarca segueix exigint obediència als seus mandats, des del menjar que es posa a taula fins a l’instrument que hauran de tocar. Als 81 anys, veu com els joves de la família es rebel·len contra la seva rigidesa. Un drama shakespearià amb una banda sonora vibrant.


THE DIRECTORS

Tal Barda was born to an American mother and French father, and lives in Tel Aviv. Graduated at Tel Aviv University – Film and Television Department, production and directing track. Graduate at Le Mirail University (France) – Art History & Communications. Playing God, Start Up Nation, A Heartbeat Away and Habricha are some of his best-known works.

Noam Pinchas got his undergraduate degree at the Massachusetts Communications College. In 2013, he co-produced and co-edited Shirly Berkovitz’s “The Good Son”, which premiered in IDFA and was the opening film at DocsBarcelona 2014. He is currently co-producing and co-writing Shirly Berkovitz’s upcoming thriller documentary “Holes”. Among his other films as director/producer are Hummus Curry, I Saw Giraffes in India and The Optimist and the Buddhist.
